About MeI was born outside of Seattle, Washington and moved to Maui when I was in elementary school. I attended Kamali'i Elementary, followed by St. Anthony Junior-Senior High School. After high school, I moved to Washington state for college and studied business. Two years later I changed my major to Elementary Education and moved back to Hawai'i to attend the University of Hawai'i at Manoa.
While completing my degree, I worked as an Autism PPT and EA at Kihei Elementary. During this time I did my student teaching in third grade at Kamali'i Elementary. After graduating, and becoming a Highly Qualified Teacher in the State of Hawai'i, I became a Fourth Grade teacher at Kamali'i Elementary in 2013. I took on the role of our school's Maui Arts and Cultural Center Lead Teacher in the 2014/2015 school year. During the 2015/2016 school year I embarked on a new journey. I am the Future Ready Schools Pillar at our school and I led a pilot program of 1:1 devices for the entire fourth grade. In 2017 our whole school is going 1:1. Over the summer I became one of three teachers on our Campus to become AVID certified and became a STEMWorks teacher in the 2016-2017 School year. In 2017-2018 I also took on the role as our Grade Level Chair, while continuing my previous roles. In 2018-2019 I continued my roles, and added the additional role of Book It Coordinator and became In the 2019-2020 school year I updated our STEAM lab, creating an inventory system, and training our staff on how to integrate different technologies into their lessons. I have also continued my leadership roles. In 2020-2021 I am teaching grades 3-5 distance learning students, whom have opted out of in person learning. |
